Most double bass necks are designed to come apart from the body of the instrument, when forced, due to the instrument being dropped or a similar misfortune.
Very often, especially in schools, these accidents happen but are fairly easy to repair if there is no other damage.
A small damage like a broken chip of wood must be repaired before the neck can be reattached to the body.
Both surfaces must be cleaned from the old glue and the neck must fit in the original position perfectly without glue.
Position the bass in a corner as shown in the picture and attach the neck without glue.
Since there will be no clamps, the neck must fit perfectly, and the fingerboard must be centered to the instrument body on its own.
Warm up the animal hide glue (The only one to be used).
Use more glue than is needed, and clean the excess glue with a damp cloth.
Leave the bass in a corner to dry for 3 days before putting the strings back on and setting it up.
Good luck !
